Chocolate fruit cake
This is one of I those recipes which at first glance you think couldn't possibly work. Well il does - brilliantly!

175 g {6 oz) butter
175 g (6 oz) brown sugar
4 medium eggs
115 g (4 oz) plain flour
115 g (4 oz) self-raising flour
15 g (0,5 oz) cocoa
100 g (3,5 oz) currants
100 g (3,5 oz) raisins
100 g (3,5 oz) sultanas
75 g (2,5 oz) glace cherries (halved)
100 g (3,5 oz) milk chocolate drops
15 ml {1 tbsp) rum flavouring

Method
1) Line and prepare a 20 cm (8 in) round tin as described above and pre-heat the oven to 150C/300F/Gas 2.
2) Cream the butter and sugar together, then beat in the eggs.
3) Sift the flours and cocoa together and stir into the mixture.
4) Stir in the fruit, the chocolate drops and the rum flavouring.
5) Spoon into the prepared tin and bake in the middle of the oven for about 1,5 - 2 hours. Leave to cool in the tin before turning out. Store as above.
